These dogs also vary according to coat type, and there are three coat types common to this hybrid: tight curly, medium curly and flat. The type of the coat is also inherited. Cockapoos occur in a wide array of colors.

Cockapoos do not shed heavily, and hence they are okay for allergic people. The coat requires daily grooming. Cockapoos are healthier than many purebred dogs, and their life span can reach 20-22 years.
