Cockatoos - Cockatoos (often called "toos") are native to Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand, Malaya and some other Pacific islands. They are found in the tropical rainforest, the grassy plains, and the dry savannahs. The name Cockatoo comes from the Malayan "kakatua", which means "big parrot". Nowadays Cockatoo birds are very popular in Europe and the USA, where they are bred in captivity and cost a lot (from a thousand to 20 thousand dollars, depending on the species.) There is an export ban on all Cockatoos from Australia as they are endangered or threatened with extinction.
